Our school's afterschool program offers a vibrant and diverse range of activities designed to inspire and engage students beyond the classroom. We provide something for everyone ensuring that each student can explore their passions, develop new talents, and receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally. Our programs include:
Academic Support: Students receive additional academic support and instruction in literacy and math.
Crocheting: Students explore different patterns and techniques, creating unique projects that showcase their creativity and patience.
Theater: Students develop their acting skills, learn about stagecraft, and gain confidence through performances that bring stories to life.
Tap Dance: Students focuses on building coordination, rhythm, and creativity through the energetic art of tap dancing.
Ballet: Students learn the fundamentals of ballet, enhancing their flexibility, strength, and artistic expression.
Violin: Students receive instruction in playing the violin, learning techniques and pieces that develop their skills and appreciation for music.
Basketball: Students work on teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness while enjoying the excitement of the game.
Modern Men: This program focuses on the personal growth and development of young men, offering mentorship and activities that build leadership, confidence, and responsibility.
Modern Women: Empowers young women through mentorship and skill-building activities, helps participants develop leadership qualities, self-esteem, and a strong sense of identity.
Coding: Students learn the basics of programming, developing problem-solving skills and creativity as they create their own digital projects.
The Medgar Evers Beacon Afterschool Program is a community-based initiative that provides a safe and supportive environment for youth after school hours. Located at P.S. 6, the program offers a variety of educational, recreational, and cultural activities aimed at fostering academic achievement, personal development, and social skills. Participants can engage in tutoring, arts and crafts, sports, and leadership training, helping them to build confidence and prepare for future success. The program also emphasizes community involvement and family engagement, ensuring a holistic approach to youth development.
